My 300B amp kits should be here tomorrow. I might have to hug the FedEx guy.

So I guess I should get my 604 crossovers done. This has been quite an exercise in design on the fly. I have a limited space in the back of the cabs for them to fit:

    4

and these 4.7mH coils are huge. But I think I'm on my way:

    5

There will be a plate on top which will screw onto the cab back.

Coils secure, top panel done, ready to wire. Wish me luck.

Query: In the crossover design I'm using:

    16

The L-Pad is basically just a variable resistor. I tested the three terminals, 1 & 2 give me 0-50 Ohms, then open if I go all the way. 1 & 3 give me 16 - 50 then open. The questions is, do I need to go down to zero, or do I want a finer control by using a 16-50 scale?

    Ta-da!

    7

    8

    9

I opted for the 16 - 50 Ohm scale. I don't think I'd ever want to turn off the HF.

Now I wonder if it works!!

I guess I could test it. I now have a combo oscilloscope and signal generator. I suppose I could input a pink noise signal and measure what comes out the HF and LF connections. Maybe it's time to read the manual on my scope.

    It works!!

Probably overloaded the poor mic on my camera, but you get the idea. I guess now I have to make the other one.

Video won't play. It says "This video contains content from EMI, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds."
    Fascists.

I tweaked it a bit. It says they're "processing" it. Let's see.

The heck with YouTube. Here's a Flickr link

Wow, they really did a nice editing job! I'll leave it up for comic value, but yeah the Flickr one is better. You only get 1:30 though.

I had the camera by the 604 and the A6 was playing on the other side of the room. It was interesting sitting in between. The 604 certainly didn't loose anything in the bass department. I'm now motivated to get that other crossover done today and hear them both. I might also try putting them in the 828 cabs and see what happens.

You want the 0 -50, start with around 10 ohm.
